Hello and welcome to
My Food and Drinks! I'm so glad you're here.
Have you ever noticed how a single flavor can
transport you across the world? For me, the scent of simmering spices brings me
back to the vibrant, communal meals of my childhood in Bamako, Mali, while the
precision of a perfectly baked pastry reminds me of the rich influence of
French culinary arts.
I'm Sayon, the cook, writer, and photographer behind
this blog. Growing up in a home that celebrated both my native Bambara and
French languages, I learned early on that food is a universal language of its
own. It's a way to share culture, create joy, and connect with the people we
love.
Why This
Blog?
I started My Food and Drinks as a way to document my
culinary adventures and share the recipes I'm passionate about. My background
is actually in the tech world, where I spend my days working with code and content.
That might seem worlds away from the kitchen, but I've found that my love for
structure and clear instructions helps me create recipes that are easy to
follow and deliver great results every time.
